  • Big Game Fishing Trip

We are fortunate that the weather in Tenerife usually allows us to fish all year round and the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean normally has a wide range of fish to offer at any time! Marlin, Tuna, Dorado, Wahoo, Amberjack, Barracuda and Sharks with Rays.

The island provides a stunning background and there is a strong chance of seeing Dolphins, Pilot Whales and Turtles in their natural habitat, making this trip one that you will always remember. We use the best equipment from PENN and SHIMANO and our friendly crew will always be on hand to provide advice and support for all types of anglers, from beginners to experts.

To find the fish we use a Simrad Fish Finder and Sonar. On board you will also find a Lee Miami Fighting Chair to help land the big one!

Don’t worry, if there is someone in your family who does not know anything about the fishing – we are here to help and to teach everything we know about it! And even if they are not so much into fishing, they can sunbath and simple enjoy the day on the boat as the spectators.

You can choose to have a Private Big Game Fishing (up to 10 persons), or Shared: Half-Day (4 hours) or Full-Day (7 hours) with up to 6-10 persons on board.

Shared Trip is a good way to try big game fishing and is value for money to enjoy a trip on our boat for either a half or a full day. You will normally be on the boat with other customers, though we tend to try to limit the number up to 6 people fishing as this gives everybody a good chance to catch something. Drinks (beer, water and soft drinks) are included on all trips, with snacks provided on all Full-Day (7 hours) and Private trips.

We are fortunate enough to have many of the greatest Big Game Fish in the world in the waters around Tenerife. For the Private Big Game Fishing we can target specific species that you may want to fish. Please contact us in advance via email info@tourtlee.com to discuss the details.

    About the boat

American built Bertram 46.6 boat, especially designed for Sport Fishing. She is the largest Charter Fishing Boat on the island of Tenerife and is fully licensed and insured to carry up to 10 passengers with 2 members of crew on board to look after you and assist with the fishing.

It has twin Detroit Diesel engines with a combined power output of 870 horsepower which cuts through the waves with grace. Weighing in at 24 tonnes, the boat is renowned for its stability in the water, making it the perfect boat for fishing.

We take safety on board very seriously and the boat is equipped with two life rafts, lifejackets for adults and children, EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon), VHF Radio, GPS Navigation System, together with a Garmin Fish Finder and Sonar for finding the fish.

Nearly all of our fishing equipment is either PENN or SHIMANO, which are widely regarded as the best on the market. These range from light spinning equipment to heavy duty PENN International 130 Rods and Reels that we use for Marlin and Big Game Sport fish that we find in the waters around Tenerife. On most of our trips we offer a mixture of Trolling, Jigging and Bottom Fishing depending on the season and weather conditions. We have a very wide range of lures to attract the fish and also use live bait and dead bait depending on the target species at the time.

    Trolling
Trolling is a method of fishing where one or more fishing lines are baited with lures, that are pulled behind the boat through the water. We use Shimano and PENN International reels and rods with a variety of different lures to attract different types of fish. These lures are various sizes, colours and equipped with different leaders depending on the type of fish we are hoping to catch.

    Light Tackle
Light tackle fishing (or Jigging) is using light weight equipment to try to catch a variety of different species. Typically the equipment used is a light weight rod and spinning reel with an appropriate line size that is equipped with hooks or lures. This enables the user to feel bites and hook ups much easier. We mainly use PENN and Grauvell rods and spinning reels equipped with Mono and braided lines.

    Deep Sea (Electric Reel)
Also we have a Professional Master Deep Sea Electric reel on board, that helps us to reach depths of 500 meters using steel line. This opens a whole world of different species including Shark, Red Snapper and other types of fish, that you cannot normally catch in bottom fishing or light tackle fishing.

    Bottom Fishing
Bottom fishing is a technique that involves the users line (equipped with a weight) to sink down to the bottom of the ocean bed to increase the chances of catching bottom feeding fish such as Tope, Rays, Wrasse, Puffer fish and Octopus. The hooks and lures usually is baited with mackerel, squid and prawn to attract the fish. We use Grauvell rods with PENN Reels for our bottom fishing. As well as a variety of different weighted lures or lines equipped with various hooks and leaders to catch the fish.
